Rideau Community Health Services (RCHS) is a progressive, dynamic, and client-centered not-for-profit community-governed organization. The focus of RCHS is to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities by the provision of primary care services, health promotion, and community services across the communities we serve.

The Board of Rideau Community Health Services is recruiting and welcomes applicants from across the diverse counties of Lanark, Leeds & Grenville. Our Board functions in a governance and policy capacity, with no involvement in daily operations. Knowledge or lived experience in the following areas is considered an asset in our recruitment efforts:

  • Health & Quality of Care
  • Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, and Advocacy
  • Social Services

Board directors must be 18 years of age or older, live, work, and/or volunteer in Lanark, Leeds & Grenville counties, be committed to the organizational expectations of respectful and inclusive interactions. This is a volunteer board position. You can expect to spend between 4-6 hours a month preparing for and attending board and committee meetings.

Recommendations of the Governance & Nominating Committee must be approved by the Board of Directors before successful candidates may be notified.

Strategy
Experience with identifying strategic priorities and strategic planning.  Ability to think strategically, and to identify and critically assess strategic opportunities and threats. Ability to develop effective strategies in the context of the strategic objectives.
Board and Governance
Knowledge of governance best practices and trends; and experience as a member of non-profit boards or committees or having served in an equivalent capacity.  Ability to identify key issues and opportunities for governance improvements and develop appropriate policies and processes. Understands the key responsibilities of a governance board and relationship with CEO.
Leadership
Experience inspiring a team or group of individuals towards achieving common goals and objectives.
Finance
Qualifications and experience in accounting and/or finance and the ability to analyze key financial statements and critically assess financial performance. Knowledge of the role of external auditors.
Risk and Legal Awareness
Ability to identify key risks to the organization in a wide range of areas including legal and regulatory compliance and monitor risk and compliance management frameworks and systems.
Client and Community Engagement
Experience in engaging with organizations and others. Ability to maintain positive relationships with community partners. Cultivates personal and professional networks in the local community and the ability to effectively engage and communicate with those partners.
Health and Quality of Care
Knowledge in such areas as provincial health priorities including Ontario Health Teams; social determinants of health; population health management. Broad system applications to the foundations of healthcare and the diversity of its nature. 
IDEAA & Advocacy
Understanding the concepts of Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, Anti-Racism, and Anti-Oppression (IDEAA), and has worked to support the advancement of IDEAA in a workplace or community setting. Experience with advocacy work and/or advocacy programs.  
Organizational Change
Understands the systematic process behind formal change management, including application of knowledge.
Social Services
Experience with government services provided for the benefit of the community, such as education, medical care, and housing.
Patient and Caregiver Experience
Experience with government services provided for the benefit of the community, such as education, medical care, and housing.
