The Rideau Community Health Services Board of Directors is pleased to welcome three new members to the board – Sharon O’Hara, Bridget Bygrave, and Tim Woods. The Board would also like to recognize the outgoing members, Janet Cosier, Terry Gilhen, and Don Palmer for their dedication and many contributions over the last several years.

The new members were ratified at the organization’s Annual General Meeting which took place on June 27, 2023 at the Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre Hall.

Sharon recently relocated to Jasper Ontario in 2022 to be closer to family and plant roots after a lifetime of moving around the world. Born in Montreal, raised mostly in Oakville Ontario, her career in Human Resources, Leadership Development and Strategic Planning took her to Toronto (GTA), Vancouver, Spokane Washington, Bentonville Arkansas, and Shenzhen China.She is a passionate advocate for Indigenous reconciliation, Human Rights and the need to include disparate voices in shaping the future.

Bridget lives in Merrickville having initially moved from the south of England to Ottawa in early 2020. After qualifying in the UK as a Registered Nurse, Community Nurse, and Practice Teacher, Bridget worked as a Clinical Specialist and Nurse Advisor before taking up Service Management, Transformation, and Policy roles within integrated health and social care. In 2010, she moved into the non-profit sector as Chief Executive of a provincial-level charity and social enterprise tackling inequality through community development.

Tim was a High School teacher for 20 years and he is now an entrepreneur. His small business trains businesses and schools in how to apply analytical frameworks to make better decisions. He has helped the United Nations Development Programme in South-East Asia with human resources planning and he helped the BC government implement a new program to improve health assistance services provision to low income residents across the province.

The Board of Directors, through its collective decisions, directs the affairs of the organization. It establishes and regularly reviews the organization’s mission, vision, principles, and strategic directions; ensures policies and procedures are in place to enable the organization to carry out its mission; and ensures the organization’s compliance with legislation.

Rideau Community Health Services (RCHS) is a non-profit, community-governed community health centre that provides comprehensive primary care, health promotion and community development services.  RCHS works with partners to provide integrated health and wellness services for various communities throughout Leeds, Grenville and Lanark counties. An interdisciplinary team is supported by an administrative team providing primary care services for registered clients. A wide range of health promotion and disease prevention programs are available to our communities such as: diabetes education, telemedicine, chiropody/foot care, dietetic consultation, oral health care, lung health, smoking cessation, mental health and wellbeing and exercise programs.
